What's an Exclusive Buyer Brokerage Engagement Agreement?

Chapman Hall requires agents to have clients sign an agreement called an Exclusive Buyer Brokerage Engagement Agreement. The agreement outlines items like the length of time the contract will be in place, the commission for the agent, and other items like what the buyer is looking for.

Click here to view a Sample Agreement

Why should you sign?

  • The agreement protects both parties - the buyer and the agent
  • The agreement protects the agent by setting terms of payment and restricts a buyer from switching agents after seeing a property
  • The agreement protects the buyer by ensuring that the agent is only representing the buyer in the transaction and the agent can't charge more than outlined in the agreement.
  • The agreement can be cancelled through mutual agreement, expiration of the length of time, or a successful purchase.
